Cave Adventures Centre – entry point to the speleological park

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Municipality of Vransko will, in the years 2023–2025, construct a wooden timber-frame building at the entrance point to the Cave Adventures Centre. The building will include the office of the speleological centre, a geological collection, changing rooms, and sanitary facilities. A safe pedestrian path with a tree-lined avenue will also be established, connecting the site to the nearby Podgrad campsite.
Within the project, two new tourism products (“The Magic of the Underground” and “Fairytale Journey with the Cave Beetle”) will be developed, and the Slovenia Green label will be obtained.

The benefits of the investment for the local community will be reflected in an increased number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays, improved conditions for the protection of natural assets, biodiversity conservation and awareness-raising, greater recognition of the Municipality of Vransko as a green tourism destination developing sustainable tourism, and improved safety for visitors of the Cave Adventures Centre.

By implementing this investment project in basic tourism infrastructure, an important step will be taken towards the planned development of the area into a speleological park with a speleological pavilion and a speleology museum.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Sustainable transformation of public tourism infrastructure through investments in renovation and construction of tourism facilities, improvement of functionality, safety, and quality of public tourism infrastructure, and enhancement of the quality of tourist services and experiences.

MAIN PROJECT ACTIVITIES

The main project activities are as follows:

  • Construction of a wooden timber-frame building housing the speleological centre office, geological collection, changing rooms, and sanitary facilities
  • Development of a safe pedestrian path with a tree-lined avenue connecting the site to the nearby Podgrad campsite
  • Development of two new tourism products – “The Magic of the Underground” and “Fairytale Journey with the Cave Beetle”
  • Acquisition of the Slovenia Green label

PROJECT VALUE AND FUNDING SOURCES

The total value of the investment project is estimated at EUR 156,982.28. The project will be co-financed in the amount of EUR 100,699.20 from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (development area C3: Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth; Component K11: Sustainable development of Slovenian tourism, including cultural heritage; Investment IC: Sustainable development of public and shared tourism infrastructure and natural attractions in tourist destinations). The remaining EUR 56,283.08 will be provided by the Municipality of Vransko.
